Responsibilities Processes samples and performs clinical laboratory tests per physician’s request. Assures validity of test results. Applies criteria for specimen rejection. Demonstrates knowledge of Quality Control, calibration and standardization of instruments. Exercises good judgment and proper interpretation of Quality Control data and assumes responsibility for decisions. Trouble-shoots instruments and performs routine preventive maintenance. Demonstrates knowledge of laboratory computer system regarding ordering, reporting and verifying results and downtime computer procedures. Is familiar with laws and regulations that apply to the laboratory. Participates in training of new employees. Utilizes age-specific knowledge when interacting with neonate, adolescent, geriatric, adult patient population and/or family members, i.e., communicates at appropriate level and appropriate way for the age, (i.e., verbal return for geriatric patients). Additionally, assures use of age specific knowledge to perform testing duties, ( i.e., utilizing heel stick for blood draw on neonate, etc.) Qualifications Minimum Education: Possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in laboratory technology or related science Minimum Experience/Skills: One (1) year recent experience in a hospital laboratory preferred Licenses/Certificates/Credentials: California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License Organization Description San Ramon Regional Medical Center is a 123-bed acute care hospital known for providing comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and emergency care.
