Clinical Internship
About the role
The Clinical Internship Program under Casa Counseling/Consejeria provides training and clinical supervision to graduate students enrolled in accredited professional graduate schools to obtain a master's level degree in social work or marriage family therapy as MFT trainees or MSW student interns.
Responsibilities
- Mental Health Community Clinic: Provide individual, family, and group therapy, coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team, and assess clinical crises.
- Evidence-Based Practices: Offer services such as crisis intervention, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, intake assessments, case management, coordination of services with law enforcement, multi-provider coordination, community presentations, and development of other community supports.
- Training Topics: Participate in training sessions covering trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, legal aspects of domestic violence and human trafficking, immigration law applied to victims, engagement with children and families, child sexual abuse treatment, sand play therapy, psychopharmacology, LGBTQ+ clinical issues, human trafficking, the intersection between domestic violence and human trafficking, domestic violence, family therapy, therapeutic frame, art interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy, elimination disorders, dual diagnosis, eating disorders, and more.
- Schedule: Work a minimum of 20 hours per week, including 10 hours of direct patient care, 5 hours of non-patient care, 1 hour of individual supervision, 2 hours of group supervision, and 1+ hours of meetings/training per month.
Requirements
Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited professional graduate school and have completed a bachelor's degree.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy
- Pass the California Clinical Mental Health Counselor Exam (CMHCE)
- Pass the California Psychological Clinical Supervisor Exam (PCSE)
- Pass the California Marriage and Family Therapy Exam (CMFT)
- Pass the California Social Work Exam (CSWE)
