Essential Functions
- Monitoring provider schedules and assisting with organizing efficient patient/clinic flow
- Communicating clearly and effectively with patients/family members, providers and co-workers
- Accompanying patients/families to exam room
- Aiding patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, preparing for exam, etc.
- Obtaining and accurately documenting pertinent information regarding the patient medical/clinical history in electronic health records
- Obtaining and recording patient vital signs (B/P, pulse, respiratory rate)
- Performing 12-lead ECG
- Medication reconciliation
- Aiding providers with various procedures
Environmental Responsibilities
- Using universal precautions
- Adhering to bio-medical waste procedures
- Setting up, utilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment and exam rooms according to department protocol to maintain infection control
- Ordering, sorting, storing medical supplies
- Restocking exam/procedure rooms
Organizational Responsibilities
- Respecting/promoting patient rights
- Responding appropriately to emergency codes
- Sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with Director in a timely manner
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of some medical terminology
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
- Skill in obtaining and documenting accurately detailed patient information using electronic health records
- Skill in performing manual and automatic blood pressure assessment
- Skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff and providers

Education and Experience
- High school diploma is required
- Graduation from a recognized training facility for medical assistants is preferred
- Minimum of one year work experience in a physician practice is preferred
Requirements
- Maintains minimum of basic life support CPR certification
- Successful completion of required job competencies within 90 days of employment
