Clinical Informaticist

About the role

The Clinical Informaticist implements and maintains informatics programs across the ThedaCare footprint. They create and foster relationships between operational stakeholders, end users, IS teams, and other partners to utilize and improve solutions within the EHR and clinical realms. This role focuses on workflow and functional analysis, solutioning, and driving projects to improve documentation, workflow quality, efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Use clinical, informatics, and organizational expertise to identify key needs for efficiency, improvement, or optimization in clinical and documentation workflows.
• Provide guidance and support in planning, development, and implementation of new functionality or programs.
• Advocate for clinical users, quality, and efficiency in the use of technology solutions, aligning with ThedaCare system strategy.
• Utilize analytics to extract meaningful insights from data and provide recommendations to improve outcomes.
• Collaborate with Operations, IS, regulatory, and other teams to enhance clinical practice and ensure effective use of information systems, Epic, and decision support tools.
• Participate in system projects and committees impacting technology solutions, including technology, policy, and practice focus areas.
• Offer perspective to ensure standardization, alignment with organizational tenets, regulatory or compliance needs, and impact on other systems or users.
• Create and foster relationships with key stakeholders and leaders to support informatics solutions throughout planning, execution, evaluation, and optimization phases.
• Utilize strong communication and partnership skills to function as a resource across all levels of the organization.
• Apply project management and system design life cycle concepts.
• Partner closely with Instructional Designers and educators to ensure programs and curricula are accurate and up to date.
• Maintain proficiency in the use of different technologies.
• Routinely review outcome criteria and assist with the development of improvement plans in partnership with stakeholders and IS.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other clinical field, or Associate’s degree in nursing plus a bachelor’s degree in education.
• 5 years of clinical experience, of which at least 3 are in clinical informatics, clinical education, IS, or a similar role with workflow development, evaluation, training, or application knowledge.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations as they relate to clinical and documentation practices.
• Epic certification required within 6 months of hire or promotion.
• Accredited national clinical certification, HIMSS certification, or ANCC Clinical Informatics certification preferred.

Physical Demands

• Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of 25 pounds without assistance.

Work Environment

• Normally works in a climate-controlled office environment or hybrid workspace.
• Frequent sitting with movement throughout the office space.
• Travel may be required to meet organizational needs.
• Use of computers throughout the workday.
• Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrist, and fingers.
