Clinical Full Professor, Director of the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) Program
Position Summary
The University at Buffalo, School of Public Health and Health Professions seeks a Clinical Full Professor, Director of the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) Program at 0.25 FTE to lead the design, accreditation, launch, and early operations of UB SPHHP’s DrPH program. The Director will provide senior academic leadership to develop a practice focused DrPH that meets national accreditation standards and practice needs, with the program proposal and preparatory work beginning immediately, in anticipation of enrolling students in Fall 2027. This role combines strategic planning, curricular oversight, faculty development, external partnership building, student mentorship, and a minimum teaching commitment to ensure a high quality, practice oriented doctoral experience.
Minimum Qualifications
- Terminal degree in a public health field or closely related discipline.
- 20+ years of leadership experience in public health education, including building or substantially redesigning doctoral-level practice-based public health programs.
- 20+ years experience managing accreditation processes and program approval pathways.
- Proven record of curriculum design, program outcome development, and assessment for DrPH or similar public health degrees.
- Senior academic leadership experience with responsibility for curricular oversight and faculty supervision at or near Dean level.
- Demonstrated experience in recruitment and admissions for doctoral level practice-based public health programs.
- Track record of mentoring doctoral students and overseeing practice based dissertations.
- Experience working in large, research intensive higher education institutions is strongly preferred as evidence of capacity to operate at scale.
Preferred Qualifications
- National level connections and exposure to public health practice and academic networks.
- Direct experience with CEPH accreditation, including leading accreditation reviews or serving in accreditation leadership roles.
- Director level public health practice experience in non academic settings (5+ years) such as state health departments or large public health agencies.
- 15+ years designing and teaching DrPH or equivalent practice focused doctoral courses.
- Experience at AAU or similarly research intensive institutions and familiarity with their administrative and academic structures.
- Demonstrated success in faculty professional development focused on practice based doctoral teaching and mentoring.
- Proven ability to integrate senior public health leaders (e.g., state health commissioners) into curriculum and field experiences.
