Clinical Exercise Specialist
About the Role
Conducts sub-maximal exercise tests and prescribes exercise programs per ACSM guidelines. Provides assessment, injury prevention, and post-rehabilitative exercise and strengthening programs per ACSM/NSCA/NASM or department guidelines. Offers pre-exercise fitness assessments and designs personalized exercise programs. Designs and teaches group exercise classes. Develops and provides health promotion activities and special seasonal projects. Assists in the daily operations of the facility. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association or ARC (required)
- National certification as a Health and Fitness Professional from ACSM, NSCA, NASM, ACE, AFFA, ISSA, AFPA, NFPT, NESTA, IFPA, Cooper Institute, or Fit Tour (required)
- BS, BA, or MS in physical education, exercise physiology, kinesiology, human performance, wellness management, exercise science, or related field (required)
- Minimum 1 year of experience teaching group exercise classes, exercise testing and prescription, personal training, and/or coordinating health promotion activities
- Knowledge of current exercise/fitness guidelines for testing and prescription, and nutrition guidelines and recommendations
- Demonstrated ability to use and instruct on free weights, weight machines, cardiovascular, and therapy equipment
- Computer skills including Windows, Microsoft Access, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Pay
Hourly wage estimate: $20.04 - $30.06. The estimate represents the typical wage range for candidates hired. Actual salary may vary based on skills, experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
