About the role

Absorbs responsibility for assessing educational needs and developing, implementing, evaluating, and revising educational programs relevant to one's area of expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Clinical Nurse Specialists and management to create competency-based programs, mentorship initiatives, and lifelong learning opportunities for staff.
  • Mentors new staff during orientation and serves as a preceptor and staff mentor.
  • Contributes to the development and execution of unit, department, and divisional goals.
  • Maintains and reviews nursing practices in one's area of expertise.
  • Communicates, collaborates, and consults with other healthcare professionals on education curriculum design and evaluation.
  • Involves in quality/process improvement activities and uses research and evidence to enhance educational offerings.
  • Evaluates, tests, and raises critical questions about the evaluation and utilization of current products and technology in the clinical setting, as appropriate.
  • Facilitates and supports the change process within the organization.
  • Participates in Palomar Health committees and councils as a member, leader, or consultant based on one's expertise.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Nursing or other education-related field of study
  • Minimum Experience: 2 - 5 years previous experience as a clinical educator, lead, preceptor, and/or supervisor
  • Preferred Experience: 5+ years previous experience as a clinical educator
  • Required Certification: American Heart Association recognized BLS - Healthcare Provider
  • Preferred Certification: Certification in specialty area of practice or role
  • Required License: Current CA RN License

Qualifications

  • Speaks and reads English at a level sufficient to perform essential job functions.
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment and personal computers, including proficiency in using a keyboard, mouse, and other functions.
  • Knowledge of MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, and e-mail.

$53.55 - $80.43 per hour

Schedule

8 hours per shift, 80 hours per pay period
