Position Summary
The Clinical Educator is responsible for the initial and ongoing training and in-services for all clinical positions in assigned locations. Along with the development and maintenance of complete and accurate training materials for clinical positions. The Clinical Educator will also be responsible for the initial training and ongoing performance of clinical programs. The Clinical Education Manager supervises preceptors and new hires in training.
Areas Of Responsibility
- Adheres to the Corporate Compliance Program, including confidentiality of HIPAA protected health information.
- Develops, implements and evaluates orientation and training activities for all staff.
- Makes sure new clinical staff complete their orientation program within the time frame.
- Monitors new clinical staff during their orientation program and ensures all training is completed within the time frame.
- Performs ongoing competency testing for clinical staff for home health and hospice and supports development of new clinical staff in the field.
- Instructs clinical staff on proper use of clinical software. Acts as a super user for technology for field staff resources and documentation.
- Functions as the clinical expert and resource for electronic health record systems.
- Performs patient visits, patient supervisory visits, shared visits with staff, and nurse supervisory as needed or directed by management.
- Participates in the implementation of an annual in-service and education calendar and tracks all completed education for Pathways.
- Aids the leadership team with measurable goals and timeframes in performance improvement plans for new staff and current staff as needed; assists with staff that require improvement through online learning, individual trainings, competency supervision.
- Participates in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI); including assisting with the overall development and implementation of the PI plan, assisting in the identification of goals and related patient outcomes, participation and reporting of activities and outcomes, development and implementation of corrective plans.
- Manages the online learning platform updates modules with the Online Learning Team and ensures timely completion of the modules by all staff.
- Continually expands knowledge on the latest trends and keeps up-to-date on the practices in adult learning, policies and procedures, and regulations.
- Safeguards all trainings and education are in compliance with state and federal regulations and accreditation organizations within the clinical practice.
- Demonstrates organizational skills, problem solving, critical thinking, open communication, flexibility, and has the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Maintains effective communication with clinical managers and direct care staff to allow the integration of educational services into multidisciplinary programs.
Qualifications
- Current RN licensure in the state of California
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Masters of Science in Nursing or relevant field preferred
- Two years of home health or hospice experience required; supervisory and precepting experience preferred
- Knowledgeable in electronic record systems
- Proficient in using Google Suite
- Certified OASIS Quality Specialist (COQS) within 1 year of hire; Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) preferred
