Clinical Education, Manager

Rutland Nursing Home’s Clinical Education Manager plays a key role in developing and delivering orientation, in-service, and continuing-education programs for all facility personnel.

Responsibilities

• Support a clinical environment where nursing staff delivers exceptional resident care.
• Foster staff engagement and involvement to promote a professional practice environment.
• Participate in creating and disseminating policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure team awareness.
• Adhere to infection-control standards and safety policies.
• Establish and maintain a systematic process for nursing-staff documentation in accordance with facility policy.
• Formulate, implement, and evaluate facility-wide in-service programs.
• Prepare an annual calendar and master schedule of mandatory and other in-service programs.
• Schedule, conduct, and arrange mandatory and elective in-services for all staff.
• Prepare and distribute monthly in-service calendars to all departments.
• Stay current with training resources and recommend them to the department.
• Conduct and/or arrange facility orientation for all new employees in collaboration with Human Resources and Department Heads; lead orientation for Nursing staff.
• Plan, organize, and promote standards of nursing practice under the direction of the Director of Nursing.
• Establish and organize all documentation related to in-service programs, including minutes, attendance records, lesson plans, content, and evaluation summaries.
• Provide a monthly summary of all activities to the Director of Nursing.
• Work closely with the Quality Assurance Coordinator and Safety Committees.
• Collaborate with Infection Control, Pharmacy, and Quality Departments.
• Assist in formulating and evaluating long- and short-term clinical goals.
• Conduct unit rounds to identify current and future in-service needs for quality care.
• Assist unit nurses in maintaining resident-care standards.
• Communicate and collaborate with all members of the resident-care team to ensure optimal care.
• Monitor nursing-employee adherence to facility policies on wound care, meal service, medication safeguarding, and resident care.
• Inspect Nursing Service areas and monitor practices for compliance with current regulations.
• Identify and correct problem areas or service improvements; lead corrective-action planning as needed.
• Participate in in-service education and orientation classes for new Nursing Department hires and ongoing programs.
• Randomly review new-admission documentation to assess staff competence and ensure accuracy.
• Communicate regularly with the Director of Nursing to solve problems and identify improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with off-shift and administrative personnel to ensure consistent practice across all shifts.
• Perform other duties as directed for continuity of care or facility benefit.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited RN program.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Valid New York State Registered Nurse License; current BCLS certification.
• Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
• Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements set by NYDOH and other regulatory agencies, including a medical and physical examination.

Qualifications

• Long-term care experience preferred.
• Ventilator experience preferred.
• Previous experience in nursing education preferred.

Skills

• Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
• Ability to assist in resident evacuation if necessary.
• Ability to perform tasks involving potential exposure to blood/body fluids.

Working Conditions

• Work in a well-lighted and ventilated area.
• Subject to frequent interruptions.
• May be asked to work beyond normal hours or in other positions temporarily when necessary.

Pay

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good-faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. Base compensation is determined by factors such as site, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget, and internal equity.
