Clinical Documentation Specialist RN
About the role
The Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) supports and facilitates the overall quality of medical record documentation by improving the completeness, accuracy, and reliability of clinical documentation. A key success factor is educating providers through the query process and independently supporting them with education and feedback to accurately reflect the patient's true clinical picture within the medical record. In partnership with the coding team, the CDS will be an expert with ICD-10, NS-DRG and APR-DRG assignment.
Responsibilities

- Partner with the coding team to be an expert in ICD-10, NS-DRG and APR-DRG assignment.
- Support the hospital's mission of caring for everyone, especially the most vulnerable in our communities.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Associate of Science in Nursing
- Registered Nurse License
- 5 years of experience as an RN in acute care setting within the last 5 years OR 2-3 years Clinical Documentation Integrity experience in acute care setting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a Bachelor of Science degree in healthcare or other related field.
- 5 years of Hospital experience in ICU, ED or Medical/Surgical
- 1 year of Understanding of MS-DRG and APR-DRG assignment and fundamentals of establishing a DRG.
- 1 year of ICD-10 experience and/or understanding

Pay
The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
