Clinical Director - Infection Control & Prevention
Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation, located in New Hyde Park, New York, is a non-profit health care facility offering inpatient programs such as sub-acute/short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, and nursing home care, as well as community health services including certified home health care and a comprehensive community hospice program.
About the role
The Clinical Director - Infection Control will lead the Infection Control function and join a dedicated team of nursing professionals. In this key clinical leadership role, you will conduct regular monitoring of nursing units to assess patients' needs for precautions against infectious diseases. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop and maintain a system of care that promotes sound and scientific infection prevention principles and practices.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular and routine monitoring of nursing units to assess patients' need for precautions against infectious diseases.
- Work with an interdisciplinary team to develop and maintain a system of care that promotes infection prevention principles and practices.
- Apply working knowledge of microbiology, epidemiology, infectious diseases, aseptic techniques, current practice, CDC guidelines, and definitions of nosocomial infections.
- Ensure compliance with JCAHO standards and governmental regulations.
Requirements
- Clean and active NYS Nurse Practitioner or Registered Nurse license; BSN a plus.
- Infection Control certification preferred.
- 5 years of experience as an RN with prior experience in infection control.
- Strong analytical, communication, and computer skills.
