About the role

Provides direct oversight of the facility Clinical Department. Manages the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of staff. Directs the implementation and management of clinical programs and initiatives. Provides clinical oversight of the daily operations of the facility, including the assessment, psychosocial treatment, and discharge of patients. Provides crisis response and support throughout the facility. With the support of RCA's corporate clinical team, develops, plans, and implements strategies for program continuation and growth. Provides clinical training to staff and interns.

Responsibilities

  • Directly oversees Clinical Supervisors (if applicable), Clinical Coordinator(s), Manager of Case Management, Primary Therapists, Case Managers, and Group Facilitators and/or Counselors including hiring, training, performance evaluation and coaching, and disciplinary action (in cooperation with Human Resources Business Partners).
  • Supports the day-to-day operation of the facility by overseeing and participating in assessment, active treatment via individual and group psychotherapy, discharge planning, and milieu management (in cooperation with the Director of Nursing and RSS Supervisor).
  • Ensures adequate clinical staff to provide patient care services while maintaining adherence to regulatory requirements and FTE budgets.
  • Drives Clinical Quality KPIs including progressions to Outpatient, aftercare planning, and census management through the Clinical and Case Management staff.
  • Ensures active treatment 7 days a week by developing, implementing, and maintaining accountability to the program schedule.
  • Ensure all clinical documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements across the department.
  • Maintains a focus on trauma-informed and family-oriented care in adherence with the care model core principles.
  • Regularly engages in in-vivo supervision/observation of group psychotherapy to evaluate and improve the skills of Primary Therapists and Group Facilitators.
  • Alongside the Medical Director and Director of Nursing, serves as a primary clinical leader by facilitating clinical meetings, providing clinical consultation to all staff, and modeling appropriate clinical decision-making.
  • Represents their facility and RCA in the community (e.g., referral sources, aftercare providers, community organizations) with the utmost professionalism.
  • Provides crisis management in the facility while acting as a leader and modeling appropriate patient-focused de-escalation skills.
  • Affords assistance with the planning and facility-level implementation of enterprise-wide clinical initiatives.
  • Actively participates in the QAPI process via chart audits, data collection, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Assesses the needs of the community and develops new programming or service lines to address unmet needs.
  • Works with the utilization management team to ensure accurate and high-quality clinical documentation and timely response to payer inquiries.
  • Upholds personal and professional ethics and values, taking into account the values of the organization and respecting the culture, belief and abilities of individuals.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or above in psychology, social work, mental health counseling, or related field is required.
  • Must have independent licensure as counselor (e.g., LPC, LMHC), clinical social worker (e.g., LCSW, LICSW), couples and family therapist (e.g., LMFT), psychologist, or equivalent; treatment of both SUD and mental illness must be within the scope of practice of the license.
  • New Jersey -- Must have or be able to obtain CCS (Certified Clinical Supervisor) designation in addition to above requirement.
  • Florida -- Must have or be able to obtain addiction supervision credential (MCAP, CCS, or CAP with experience) in addition to above requirement.
  • Maryland -- Must have or be able to obtain Approved Supervisor status (i.e. ability to supervise ADTs) in addition to above requirement.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • 5-7 years in a clinical management role, leading people and managing processes.
  • Proven track record of excellent operations performance.
