Clinical Director
About the role
The Clinical Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of The Villa, a permanent congregate supportive housing program in the Bronx. The Villa houses 56 single adults living with active substance use and/or mental health diagnoses, and provides a range of services including case management, money management, occupational therapy, psychiatric services, recreation/socialization, and therapeutic groups.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the Program Director and other senior staff to develop and implement program policies and procedures.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures to comply with requirements from DOHMH and HUD.
- Supervises a team of case managers to deliver rehabilitative and restorative services to the tenants at the villa.
- Provides the day-to-day coordination of clinical services in the facility through collaboration with medical, psychiatric, and social service personnel.
- Conducts performance assessments by auditing charts and reviewing data in external databases.
- Develops staff through team meetings, individual supervision, and in-service education as needed for all levels of staff.
- Facilitates weekly case reviews.
- Makes sure staff complete all tenants’ intake processes, assessments, psychosocial progress notes, referrals, and service plans in a timely manner.
- Trains staff in protocols for clinical emergencies.
- Makes sure post-discharge follow-ups are completed and documented in a timely manner.
- Available to respond to emergencies on a 24/7/365 basis, especially after normal work hours, on weekends, or during the program director’s absence.
- Serves as interim primary lead in the absence of the program director.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, family therapy, or a related field is required. A master’s degree in social work and relevant licensure or certification is preferred. Leadership, program evaluation and performance management, team building, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential. Knowledge of case management software and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite are also required. Bilingual or multilingual candidates are preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, family therapy or related field required.
- Master’s degree in social work and relevant licensure or certification preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate staff to accomplish stated program goals and objectives while developing their individual and group skills.
- Capacity to develop or exhibit, in collaboration with the staff and the Performance Evaluation and Quality Assurance Department (PEQA), the ability to independently evaluate and manage program performance using data.
- Ability to develop and foster, through demonstration, a team spirit, enabling staff to overcome the challenges of providing needed services to a special client population.
- Excellent oral, writing, listening, and negotiating skills.
- The ability to work well within a high-pressure environment and meet the short and long-term mandates of the program.
- An ability to interface with clients as well as all levels of staff.
Skills
Knowledge of case management software as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
