Responsibilities
- Checks menu for all items needed and ensures all foods listed on menu are available.
- Ensures food and food areas are merchandised attractively, garnished and sanitized properly.
- Ensures quality control of foods being served, to include taking and recording temperatures and removing foods from the line that are not in compliance with standards.
- Utilizes good customer service skills, serving guests and employees courteously and effectively, explaining menu or food items when requested and giving correct portion sizes.
- Exhibits proper sanitation skills, handling food properly and washing hands as instructed.
- Teamwork is displayed daily.
- Reviews menu and assembles food and supplies as needed for daily use.
- Prepares food items using standardized recipes. Properly prepares by portioning out mixes, using correct proportions for patients and cafeteria.
- Prep and set up prepared food items in a variety of areas.
- Safeguards required sanitary levels are maintained throughout the food preparation process.
- Alerts supervisor to problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies.
- Detects and reports spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment or other unusual conditions.
- Cooks food as tasks are assigned.
- Delivers food to patient and visitors/customers if needed.
- Washes, sanitizes, dries and puts dishes away in proper place.
- Cleaning in all areas of the kitchen and cafeteria including deep cleaning as assigned.
- Sweeping and mopping required.
- Any other job functions as needed.
Qualifications
- Education/Licensure/Certification: BS in Nutrition from an accredited college or university. Alabama license must be obtained upon employment and ADA registration must be obtained within six months of employment.
- Experience: Food service experience in a high volume healthcare setting preferred.
