Clinical Dietitian Educator

Job Description

• Designs, implements, and evaluates orientation, training, competency development, and continuing education programs for nutrition staff to support consistent, high quality nutrition practice across the organization.
• Conducts competency assessments and identifies areas for improvement, collaborating with clinical teams to develop and implement strategies to improve nutrition care and patient outcomes.
• Provides evidence-based nutrition care plans according to relevant organizational standards and regulations, conducting screenings, monitoring interventions, and providing recommendations as needed.
• Oversees the development and provision of nutrition education to patients, families, and other healthcare staff. Serves as a consultant for any nutrition-related inquiries.
• Maintains accurate nutrition and education records, including training activities and employee progress.
• Serves as a preceptor to assigned dietetic students, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing feedback.
• Participates in and stays up to date with current research and professional education to maintain expert knowledge and competencies of evidence-based practices. Shares and applies information to facilitate quality patient care and effective program operation.

Education Requirement

As required by listed licensure and/or certification requirement. Licensure Requirement: Licensed as a Registered Dietitian in the State of Ohio, or limited permit with license received within 3 months of hire, required. Certifications: Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition (CSP), Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), or other specialty certification, preferred.

Skills

Strong interpersonal skills, adept at collaboration, and ability to relate effectively with Nutrition staff and a variety of hospital departmental personnel and physicians. Ability to effectively organize and facilitate meetings to produce high quality educational offerings. Demonstrated high levels of initiative, clinical decision-making, and organizational skills. Ability to use sound judgment and ethical decision-making.

Experience

Five years of experience as a clinical registered and licensed dietitian, preferred. Clinical pediatric experience, preferred. Experience working in hospital environment, preferred.
