Clinical Dietitian

Per diem (PRN) position at Riverview Regional Medical Center – Gadsden, AL. 8-hour day shifts as needed.

About the role

The Registered Dietitian (RD) designs and implements nutrition care plans tailored to patients’ medical needs. Responsibilities include assessing nutritional status, monitoring progress, educating patients and families, collaborating with healthcare teams, and ensuring dietary staff prepares meals that meet safety and health standards. The goal is to improve patient outcomes through effective nutrition management.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients' dietary needs based on medical conditions, lab results, and health history.
• Develop individualized nutrition plans to support recovery, manage chronic diseases, or address conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or malnutrition.
• Track patients’ progress, adjust meal plans as needed, and ensure nutritional goals are met.
• Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to integrate nutrition into patient care plans.
• Educate patients and their families about proper nutrition, special diets, or post-discharge meal planning.
• Ensure meals prepared by the dietary staff align with prescribed diets and safety standards.

Requirements

• Registered Dietitian (RD) license.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting providing patient nutritional care.

Skills

• Strong understanding of medical nutrition therapy (MNT).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to educate and motivate patients and families on healthy eating habits.
• Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
