Clinical Dietitian
About the role
The Clinical Dietitian at CHI St Alexius Bismarck will provide expert nutrition care, develop and implement individualized plans to improve patient health outcomes. They will clearly communicate nutritional data across all systems and participate in health team meetings as the resident nutrition expert.
Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment & Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive nutrition screenings and assessments using validated tools, age/gender-appropriate standards, and considering cultural/ethnic backgrounds, leading to nutrition-related diagnoses and identification of patients at nutritional risk
- Intervention & Education: Implement targeted nutrition interventions based on medical conditions, provide customized nutrition education to patients and families, and actively contribute to interdisciplinary care teams
- Care Plan Development & Monitoring: Develop individualized intervention plans, including appropriate feeding routes and prescriptions, and rigorously monitor and evaluate patient responses to interventions, updating care plans and following up as needed
- Clinical Collaboration & Quality Assurance: Collaborate with Food and Nutrition Services on patient experience initiatives, participate in peer reviews and chart audits, and assist in training clinical staff on the Diet Manual Handbook
- Advanced Clinical Competency: Routinely manage high-acuity patients, demonstrating expert-level nutrition therapy in specialized areas such as NICU, pediatrics, enteral/parenteral nutrition support, oncology, renal, diabetes, and gerontology
- Training & Development: Support the training and development of Clinical Dietitian I, patient-interactive positions, and other staff as needed, including leading Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) training sessions and workshops for hospital clinical staff
Requirements
- Two (2) years acute hospital or similar experience working with patients in more complex levels of care to specialized populations (e.g. pediatric, bariatric, ICU, older adults, etc.)
- Bachelor's Degree with completion of accredited dietetics program (ACEND - Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition Dietetics.)
- Valid registration as a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
- Valid dietitian licensure as required by state the state of North Dakota
Preferred
- Potential Board Certifications including Board Certification Specialist in Oncology, Pediatric and Pediatric Critical Care, Renal, and Gerontological. Also Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (NBNSC) - ASPEN, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (NCBDE). Outpatient/Wellness Center/Rehabilitation - Board Certified Specialist in sports dietetics, obesity and weight management

Pay
The posted compensation range of $30.71 - $42.64 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.

Monday - Friday (7:30 AM - 4:00 PM) and Weekend On-Call Rotation
