About the role
Responsible for the assessment and nutritional management of acute and chronic disease in the outpatient setting. May include individual and group counseling, culinary nutrition, community outreach, public education, and scheduling. Develops and/or implements a comprehensive care plan based on assessment and evaluation of patient/caregiver needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform nutrition assessment of a wide variety of acute and chronic disease states
- Provide individual and group counseling
- Deliver culinary nutrition education
- Serve as a Sentara representative for health fairs, media outreach, and community presentations
- Communicate and collaborate with providers and other members of the healthcare team for referrals, clinical diagnostic data, weekly rounds, and patient care meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
- Master’s Degree in Nutrition (if Bachelor’s Degree is in a major other than Dietetics, must complete an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics)
- BLS certification required within 90 days of hire
- Registered Dietitian (RD) credential must be obtained within 6 months of hire (verification statements required for candidates awaiting RD credentialing)
