About the Role

As a Clinical Data Coordinator, you will coordinate activities focused on ensuring the accuracy and integrity of clinical data, as well as its compliance with regulatory standards and hospital revenue initiatives. Provide expertise in coding and classification systems to healthcare providers throughout our hospital, with a focus on Inpatient and Ambulatory Surgery, and help drive improvements in documentation, reimbursement, and the revenue cycle. Direct and evaluate the performance of assigned staff. Perform chart, internal/external coding, DRG, and APG reviews to ensure compliance with established coding principles and documentation guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of clinical data in compliance with regulatory standards and hospital revenue initiatives.
  • Provide expertise in coding and classification systems (ICD-10/CPT) to healthcare providers.
  • Focus on Inpatient and Ambulatory Surgery documentation, reimbursement, and revenue cycle improvements.
  • Direct and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.
  • Perform chart reviews, internal/external coding, DRG, and APG reviews for compliance with coding principles and documentation guidelines.

Requirements

  • 3 years of coding experience.
  • CCS certification from AHIMA.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and coder education expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of Health Information Management/Medical Records experience in an academic medical center environment.
  • Prior experience as a DRG/APG Coordinator.
  • Experience with 3M, Optum, Cerner, and Epic.
  • RHIA or RHIT certification.

Pay

Salary Range: $109,100 - $130,000/Annual

Schedule

Full Time. This role requires on-site presence, so all employees should live within a commutable distance to NewYork-Presbyterian (NYP).
