Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality clinical service in genetic and genomic testing.
  • Share in the daily testing review process for the clinical service.
  • Resolve technical difficulties with testing procedures.
  • Develop, validate, and implement clinical testing.
  • Collaborate with faculty and clinicians to develop new tests.
  • Communicate diagnostic results and testing needs to faculty members.
  • Complete forms for national consortium groups regarding diagnostic testing results.
  • Participate in tumor boards and other conferences.
  • Contribute to departmental, institutional, and national committees.
  • Supervise residents.
  • Contribute to the education of LGG fellows, residents, medical students, and ancillary staff.
  • Participate in undergraduate and graduate education.
  • Engage in scholarship primarily in genetics through presentations at national meetings, research collaborations, and contributions to peer-reviewed scientific literature.

Qualifications

  • M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree
  • ABMGG certification or eligibility in either Laboratory Genetics and Genomics, or Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Genetics dual boards
  • Knowledge regarding regulatory issues as they apply to the field of cytogenetics and molecular genetics
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a diverse population
