Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality clinical service in genetic and genomic testing.
- Share in the daily testing review process for the clinical service.
- Resolve technical difficulties with testing procedures.
- Develop, validate, and implement clinical testing.
- Collaborate with faculty and clinicians to develop new tests.
- Communicate diagnostic results and testing needs to faculty members.
- Complete forms for national consortium groups regarding diagnostic testing results.
- Participate in tumor boards and other conferences.
- Contribute to departmental, institutional, and national committees.
- Supervise residents.
- Contribute to the education of LGG fellows, residents, medical students, and ancillary staff.
- Participate in undergraduate and graduate education.
- Engage in scholarship primarily in genetics through presentations at national meetings, research collaborations, and contributions to peer-reviewed scientific literature.
Qualifications
- M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree
- ABMGG certification or eligibility in either Laboratory Genetics and Genomics, or Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Genetics dual boards
- Knowledge regarding regulatory issues as they apply to the field of cytogenetics and molecular genetics
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a diverse population
