Position: Registered Nurse Coordinator PACULocation: Arlington HeightsFull Time:Hours: 8a to 5:30p M-F
What You Will Do
- Provides leadership, direction, and resource (human and material) management to assure appropriate implementation of policies and procedures for delivery of patient care.
- Affirms the effectiveness of resources and facilitates teamwork, positive work environment and collaboration between all members of the health care team.
- Participates in development of the department's vision and planning.
- Schedules and adjusts staff to meet department and hospital requirements.
- Assists surgical teams in achieving quality patient outcomes by managing day-to-day Operating Room (OR) operations and facilitating collaboration among the interdisciplinary team.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to identify resources needed and resolve issues that affect patients and the team.
- Communicates and collaborates with other surgical support areas to provide continuous, smooth transition of care and day-to-day operations between units.
- Oversees the unit to ensure adequate unit supplies, equipment, and stock.
- Interviews, recommends hires, disciplines and recommends discharges (when necessary) subordinate team members in accordance with Northwest Community Hospital (NCH) policies and procedures.
- Evaluates the ongoing performance of team members in accordance with the hospital’s performance management system.
- Guides and promotes the development of staff.
- Organizes and conducts monthly staff meetings to review data findings, discuss problems identified with system related issues, outcomes, standards of practice, and/or other related practice issues.
- Demonstrates accountability for outcomes through critical thinking and effective problem resolution.
- Follows through on all issues, challenges or roadblocks affecting the outcomes of the department.
- Assesses patient plans of care, acuity levels and census data to identify and plan for variances in staff or material resource adjustments.
- Flexes staff to meet census fluctuations assuring that appropriate staff resources are assigned to meet patient needs and acuity.
- Conducts product trials and evaluate product needs on an ongoing basis with supply management.
- Serves as a consultant to other care settings on patients in area of specialty.
- Collaborates with Director to identify unit goals and to ensure that they are met.
- Collaborates with the preceptor team and the clinical nurse specialist in the development of staff skills during orientation and on an ongoing basis.
- Identifies, initiates, and participates in performance improvement opportunities.
- Assesses the cost and effectiveness of specialty areas resources and recommends changes.
- Adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies, and procedures.
What You Will Need
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing
- Preferred 2 Years of experience in an acute care OR setting
- Required 1 Year Previous leadership experience
- CNOR preferred
- The interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills necessary to interact with patients and interact and collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
- The ability to adapt communication approach with different members of the interdisciplinary team.
- The ability and self-assurance to be assertive and innovative when collaborating with physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
- The leadership skills necessary to motivate and manage employees, utilizing a team approach, delegate appropriately and direct activity in provision of patient care.
- The organizational skills to manage daily operations, coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize work according to timelines and monitor outcomes and actions.
- The organizational and decision-making skills necessary to work independently and anticipate, prioritize, follow through, and effectively manage time and resources.
- Ability to perform computer skills necessary for data inquiry and data entry.
- Proficient in area of specialty/practice.
- The ability to project a professional image that is consistent with the NCH value of customer focus.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Required
- AHA Heartsaver CPR - American Heart Association (AHA) Required
