Clinical Compliance Specialist (Compliance Specialist 3) - Oregon State Hospital, Salem Campus
About the role
The Clinical Compliance Specialist (Compliance Specialist 3) for the Oregon State Hospital (OSH) serves as the clinical compliance subject matter expert for the nursing specialty area. This role enforces regulatory compliance typical for credentialing and applies clinical knowledge to collaborate with leadership.
Responsibilities
- Enforce regulatory compliance on clinical matters in collaboration with leadership.
- Provide professional expertise to management and staff throughout the Oregon State Hospital system.
- Apply in-depth clinical knowledge on complex compliance and quality-related activities as required by various federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
- Interpret regulatory laws, rules, and policies, and conduct compliance reviews/tracers.
- Implement quality and continuous improvement methods such as lean, six-sigma, and total quality management.
- Write and analyze general, statistical, and technical reports per the Joint Commission (JC) standards.
- Work with methods of organizational, program, and statistical analysis.
- Knowledge of Hospital Quality Improvement programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Adobe applications.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five years of experience doing administrative research that included compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action or decide compliance or eligibility with program guidelines and regulations.
- Three of the five years must be above the technical support level.
- College-level course work may substitute for experience on the basis of 45-quarter units per year, up to a maximum of three years, OR a bachelor's degree in business or public administration or a related degree and two years of the specified experience, OR a master’s degree in business or public administration or a related degree and one year of the specified experience.
Qualifications
Preference Statement:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in healthcare regulatory compliance, quality, or accreditation.
- Experience with the Joint Commission, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Oregon Revised Statutes, Oregon Administrative Rules and other healthcare regulatory agencies is strongly preferred.
- Experience interpreting regulatory laws, rules, and policies, and conducting compliance reviews/tracers.
- Experience implementing quality and continuous improvement methods such as lean, six-sigma, and total quality management.
- Experience working with methods of organizational, program, and statistical analysis.
- Experience writing and analyzing general, statistical, and technical reports per the Joint Commission (JC) standards.
- Knowledge of Hospital Quality Improvement programs.

Pay
The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying range. If the successful candidate qualifies for PERS, the salary range will increase by 6.95%.
