About the role
The Clinical Coding and Compliance Auditor role is responsible for the accurate assignment of ICD and CPT codes of diagnoses and procedures for outpatient medical records in multiple outpatient settings.
Responsibilities
- Accurately assign ICD and CPT codes of diagnoses and procedures for outpatient medical records in multiple outpatient settings.
- Ensure compliance with coding standards and regulations.
- Review and audit coding documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Provide feedback and guidance to coders on coding practices and policies.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve coding discrepancies and improve coding accuracy.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in a science field preferred.
- Completion of an accredited program through AHIMA or AAPC preferred.
- RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCA, CPC, CPC-H, or CIRCC credential preferred.
- Two years of multi-specialty, preferably surgical coding experience, with CPT/ICD-10-CM/HCPCS/modifier coding for physician professional charges.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in an acute care facility as an ASU Clinical Coder.
- Experience coding E/M’s, Outpatient Hospital Clinics, OBV, ASU, Professional Surgical CPT’s, ED’s, cardiac cath/angiography, and simple visit coding.

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
