Clinical Associate - Med Surg, Full-Time, Days
About the role
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital as a Clinical Associate (CNA) in the Med Surg unit. Here, you will prepare patients and assist with meals while providing direct patient care necessary to meet the personal, physical, and comfort needs of the patient.
Responsibilities

- Acts as a patient/family advocate
- Provides comfort measures and assistance to patient and family
- Demonstrates necessary skills and knowledge to provide care for patients according to unit specific competencies as appropriate to the age of the patients served, as delineated in the Center's Scope of Care
- Fulfills assigned supportive work in connection with the delivery of patient care, including functional tasks and skills
- Utilizes interactive processes which will exceed the expectation of patients, physicians, families, or significant others
- Provides high-quality, cost-effective care and treatment
- Demonstrates the necessary skills and knowledge to provide care for patients according to unit specific Scope of Care
- Understands Growth and Development and responds effectively to the unique needs of specific patient populations
- With the leadership of the staff nurse, follows plan of care by completing assigned tasks related to direct patient care
- Aids in admissions by setting up patient rooms, orienting patients to rooms, obtaining height, weight, temperature, pulse, respiration rate, blood pressure (in both arms when applicable), changing clothing, labeling, and storing personal care items
Requirements
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completed Medical Terminology Course
- Past or current experience in an acute care hospital setting
Qualifications
- Passes a criminal background check
- Passes a drug screen
- Complies with flu vaccination requirements prior to hire

- Knowledge of infection control policies and procedures

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity.
