About the role
The Neurology Department at Indian River Hospital is looking to add a Clinical Assistant II – RN to the team.
Responsibilities
- A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 5:00PM.
- A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Assess health status by completing a nursing assessment.
- Perform telephone triage.
- Notify physician/LIP of abnormal findings.
- Establish a care plan in collaboration with the patient, family, and health care team.
- Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure smooth and effective transitions of care.
- Assist with specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Assist with specialized patient care equipment as required by the clinical department and medical specialty assigned.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physician/LIP and monitor patients for response.
- Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
- Cover other nursing roles within the department.
- Provide health education to patients and families. Develop, evaluate, adapt, and document education to learning needs. Assist in preparation of the department specific education for patients and colleagues.
- Facilitate smooth operation of the ambulatory areas.
- Participate in quality initiatives, process improvements, and research activities to improve patient outcomes, patient experience, and patient safety.
- Maintain professional growth and development in the nursing field and identified annual core competencies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) Or the American Red Cross
- Minimum one year recent experience as a Registered Nurse
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- History working with the neurological population
- Experience working in the Emergency Department
- Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
- May require some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
- Light Work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
