About the Role
Employees in this classification provide patient care management to an assigned clinic, performing both clerical and clinical duties. In the clinical setting, the employee receives direct supervision from a physician or nursing supervisor. In the office setting, supervision is provided by the department administrator. Work is performed under usual office and clinic conditions and may involve stress during emergency situations.
Responsibilities
- Perform direct patient care tasks, including taking vital signs and preparing patients for exams
- Assist physicians during examinations
- Administer injections and draw blood
- Sterilize instruments
- Educate patients on care instructions
- Maintain electronic health records
- Manage clinic supplies
- Perform other duties as assigned by the head nurse or department administrator
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from an approved certified program for medical assistants
- Certification by an approved accredited certifying agency in the specialty
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Prior clinical experience
Visa Information
TTUHSC may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions at its sole discretion, in accordance with directives from Governor Abbott and with approval from the Texas Workforce Commission. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not cover the $100,000 fee, if applicable.

Pay
Hourly pay range: $16.50 – $20.50. Compensation is based on qualifications, budgetary guidelines, and the institutional pay plan.
Schedule
- Full-time position
- Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Travel required up to 25%
