Clinical Assistant
About the role
Ever wanted hands-on clinical experience in the world of healthcare? Clinical Assistant is a vital, hands-on member of the care team who works directly with patients and providers in clinics, hospitals, and specialty practices. This is the fastest, most respected way to gain paid, patient-facing clinical experience before medical, nursing, or PA school: you’ll log hundreds of hours of direct patient contact, master clinical skills that admissions committees love, build strong letters of recommendation from physicians and nurses who work with you daily, and discover firsthand whether the clinical side of healthcare is your calling.
Responsibilities
- Work with doctors to room patients
- Absorb and assist with procedure setup
- Perform point-of-care testing, take vitals, and phlebotomy services
- Manage patient flow, from check-in to discharge
- Monitor pending labs and radiology orders for results to help guide patient care
- Explain procedures to patients and obtain consent
- Facilitate transition of care to urgent care or hospital
- Provide other duties as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 years old and authorized to work in the U.S.
- Proof of vaccinations (may be required)
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Strong listening and communication skills
- Flexible schedule availability
- Ability to stand, sit, and use a computer for several hours a day
- Access to a laptop (you’ll be provided one after training but need your own for training)

Pay
$17.25, depending on qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
Schedule
- Outpatient (Doctor’s Office): Typically weekday hours (around 8–5, Monday–Friday), with some offices offering evening or weekend shifts.
- Emergency Department: Open 24/7 — there’s always something happening!
