About the role
The Clinical Assistant (CA) is managed by the Patient Care Manager and works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The CA participates in providing total direct patient care in a team approach, working therapeutically in a community of emotionally and/or chemically dependent patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic patient care and procedures
- Observe patients and maintain patient safety
- Assist patients with physical and emotional activities of daily living
- Obtain, record, and report vital signs to appropriate staff
- Transport patients to and from activities in a timely manner
- Observe patients taking their medication and document accordingly
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and behavioral health issues of patients served
- Assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret information to provide needed care
- Perform technical skills such as obtaining blood sugars, applying restraints, suicide precautions, bathing, dressing, ambulating, and feeding patients
- Safely position and/or assist the nurse in positioning patients using devices like walkers and crutches
- Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with the healthcare team
- Adhere to and promote established organizational values, including customer service, safety, infection control, and compliance standards
- Demonstrate thorough, concise, and timely documentation, shift reports, and verbal communication
- Maintain clinical skills, competencies, and required certifications/trainings
- Perform as-needed assigned duties and tasks
