Clinical Assistant/Associate/Professor- AZ - Shelter Medicine - College of Veterinary Medicine
Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty position in shelter medicine. This appointment can be tenure-track or clinical-track, depending on the applicant's goals.
About the role
The successful candidate will:
- Provide clinical instruction to students on shelter medicine rotations and rotating interns
- Help develop and implement a comprehensive shelter medicine program
- Participate in mobile spay/neuter and TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) events
- Provide instruction to students in didactic courses and clinical skills laboratories within the DVM curriculum
- Engage in scholarly activity, though independent research is not a requirement
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality clinical and didactic teaching in shelter medicine
- Contribute to the growth and development of a young veterinary college’s teaching and clinical programs
- Collaborate with faculty and regional partners to support shelter and community outreach initiatives
- Utilize the mobile clinic and “pop-up” clinic for spay/neuter surgeries, wellness exams, and minor medical procedures
Requirements
- DVM or equivalent degree
- Significant shelter or community medicine experience, including high-volume/high-quality spay/neuter surgery
- Excellent clinical and communication skills
- Strong commitment to student-centered learning and meeting the needs of students
- Collaborative mindset to foster a team approach to teaching and service
Qualifications (Desirable)
- Teaching experience
- Board certification by ABVP (Shelter Medicine) or ACVPM
- MS or PhD degree in a relevant field of study
- Additional advanced training
- Research experience
