About the Role

The University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry is recruiting a faculty psychiatrist for the Adult Psychiatry Division. This multi-mission, non-tenure track position is available part-time to full-time and involves active participation in the clinical, educational, and scholarly activities of the Department and College of Medicine.

The successful candidate will provide inpatient consult-liaison (CL) psychiatry services at UF Shands Hospital, a 1,111-bed Level 1 trauma center with specialized facilities including a children’s hospital, NCI-designated cancer institute, neuromedicine hospital, and highly ranked solid organ transplant programs. Responsibilities include initial psychiatric consultations and follow-up patient care. Opportunities exist to develop interests in outpatient CL populations and integrated psychiatric care in primary care settings.

This role includes a significant educational component, with supervision and teaching of UF medical students, psychiatry residents, and fellows. The position also offers opportunities to engage in clinical research and quality improvement projects, with strong encouragement for clinical scholarship.

The position reports to the Directors of the Division of CL Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatry. Participation in on-call coverage of the UF Psychiatric Hospital is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient consult-liaison (CL) psychiatry services, including initial consultations and follow-up care at UF Shands Hospital.
• Develop and explore interests in outpatient CL populations and integrated psychiatric care in primary care settings.
• Supervise and teach medical students, psychiatry residents, and fellows.
• Participate in clinical research and/or quality improvement projects.
• Engage in clinical scholarship.
• Participate in on-call coverage of the UF Psychiatric Hospital.

Requirements

• Board Certified and/or Board Eligible for an M.D. in Psychiatry.
• Must have or be able to obtain a Florida state medical license.
• ABPN Board eligibility/certification in Psychiatry is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
• ABPN Board eligibility/certification in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
• Demonstrated record of clinical excellence.
• Experience serving vulnerable populations.
• Scholarly or teaching interest in an academic medical center.
