Clinical Adjunct Nursing Faculty
Job Description
The clinical instructor for the University's Bachelor of Science, Nursing is responsible for supervising nursing students in the clinical environment and providing consistent and timely formative and summative feedback. This position is also responsible for evaluating the clinical performance of the student and grading all clinical assignments and creating a dynamic, learner-centered environment that supports the diverse learning needs of the student population based on educational theory and evidence-based teaching practices.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversee clinical rotation for nursing students.
- Manage post-conference meetings.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop engaging lesson plans.
- Ensure relevant learning resources are available.
- Apprise students of their progress in the course at the mid-term point, as defined in the syllabus, and for those who are not meeting expectations.
- Establish a mutual learning plan to achieve stated goals outlined in the syllabus.
- Notify the course chair of at-risk students as soon as identified and at least weekly thereafter.
- Complete final evaluation of student performance.
- Submit student grades (midterm and final) on time.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Complete the required orientation for adjunct faculty.
- Submit the following to the American Data Bank/Complio Portal regarding licensing credentials and medical requirements:
- Malpractice Insurance (due annually)
- RN License
- Physical Examination (due annually)
- QuantiFERON or Tuberculin Skin Test (due annually - if positive, a negative chest x-ray report is required, which expires every 5 years - QuantiFERON still required annually)
- Flu Vaccine (due annually)
- Covid-19 Vaccine & Booster Record of Vaccination History (Hepatitis B, Varicella, and MMR)
- Tdap Vaccination (required every 10 years)
- Varicella IGG Measles, Mumps, Rubella IGG
- Hepatitis B Surface Antibody IGG
- Hepatitis B Surface Antigen IGG
- Hepatitis C sAB IGG
- Medical Release Form (complete form electronically in Complio)
- BLS Certification
- Meningitis (submit either proof of having received the meningococcal (meningitis) vaccine, or a meningococcal declination form.)
Qualifications
- Education: Master of Science, nursing required;
- Current license to practice professional nursing with an undisciplined license in the State of NY and/or CT;
- A minimum of two (2) years of recent clinical experience;
- Licenses/Certifications: RN License (required) and CPR Certification (required).
Experience
- At least two years related experience required.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Salary
The annual salary for this position is based on Manhattanville’s Collective Bargaining Agreement. Depending on the clinical section, the pay will be $70 to $74 per hour.
