About the Role

This position is non-tenure track and employment is offered on a per-semester basis. The Nursing clinical adjunct faculty member will teach in pre-licensure nursing programs in areas of expertise and contribute to the mission and strategic priorities of the institution.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate effective student learning in the assigned clinical or classroom setting.
  • Provide adequate guidance for students in the clinical setting related to professionalism, practice, and research.
  • Ensure effective evaluations of student practice.
  • Promote evidence-based practice.
  • Provide a supportive learning environment.
  • Provide feedback on student progress to supervisory personnel.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and administration as requested.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare partners and their staff.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the nursing curriculum, policies, and requirements.
  • Maintain clinical competence and knowledge in the area of expertise.
  • Attend all required orientation, training, and faculty meetings.
  • Perform other assignments as designated by the Program Coordinator.
  • Collaborate effectively with other faculty and staff members within Nursing and throughout the University and community to develop inter-professional academic, clinical, and research opportunities.
  • Advance Coker's educational mission and core values.
  • Clinical adjunct faculty retain responsibility and accountability for the supervision, instruction, evaluation, and overall clinical learning experience of all assigned students within the clinical facility. Adjunct faculty are expected to provide direct oversight of student performance, ensure adherence to facility and program policies, promote safe patient care practices, and maintain ongoing communication with course leadership regarding student progress and clinical concerns.

Requirements

  • Applicants must possess and maintain a current, active, and unencumbered nursing license in the State of South Carolina. An unencumbered license is defined as a license that is unrestricted and without current disciplinary action, probation, suspension, revocation, stipulations, or pending investigation by any state board of nursing or regulatory authority. Verification of licensure status will be required prior to employment and throughout the duration of employment.
  • Nursing faculty must possess a minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in the specialty area in which they are teaching.
  • The applicant must hold a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
