Clinical Account Manager - Denver, CO (Field Based)
The Clinical Account Manager (CAM) at Insulet supports healthcare providers, office staff, and patients while driving growth of the Omnipod® insulin management system through account management, education, and training initiatives. This field-based role includes conducting physician and patient trainings, building relationships with key opinion leaders, providing clinical support, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to strengthen customer partnerships.
About the role
The Clinical Account Manager (CAM) supports physicians, staff, and both new and existing patients in hospitals, office settings, and associated satellite offices. The CAM drives Insulet’s business growth through effective account management by focusing on HCP influence, patient training, account in-services, educational support, and collaboration with supporting functions to build key account relationships.
Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate execution of approved territory and customer-specific plans adhering to all institutional and account guidelines and protocols
- Conduct physician office and team educational trainings
- Conduct initial patient training and appropriate patient follow-up based on the approved protocol established by site
- Install Glooko and provide education as necessary
- Identify and develop key opinion leaders as advocates
- Provide clinical insight and value to grow business and enhance customer relationships
- Lead, collaborate, and support Clinical Sales Managers (CSMs) outside of the position’s geography to ensure training is conducted within regional/national policies, and support material is approved per pharmacy operational rules
- Participate in district meetings for training purposes, information updates, and sharing field intelligence information
- Account management, including providing regular updates and keeping commercial leadership informed of site activity, material approvals, and regional and local office requests
Requirements
- Associate degree (minimum qualification)
- 3+ years of related clinical experience
- Professional, up-to-date credentials and/or certifications (e.g., Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), Registered Dietitian (RD), Registered Nurse (RN), PharmD, or other clinical credentials; state licensure as required)
- Valid driver’s license
- Must reside within the geographic area of the assigned territory
- Regular business travel, mostly by car within a set geographic region; overnight travel may be required (2–5 overnights per month)
- Ability to lift, carry, and transport up to 30 lbs. of professional sales samples and literature
Skills
- Advanced diabetes management skills and deep understanding of the diabetes landscape and pump space
- Detailed understanding of the complexities of healthcare systems and account management
- Expert understanding of clinical practice recommendations and clinical protocols for training patients on insulin pump therapy following National Practice guidelines and National Standards of Care
- Solid background in market and account development, creating and implementing successful business strategies that drive market and sales growth
- Ability to strategize both independently and collaboratively to develop plans for assigned accounts
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrix environment with multiple stakeholders
- Strong leadership and business development skills with the ability to lead without authority to achieve desired results
- Self-starter who needs minimal direction; flexible with solid business acumen
- Strong listening and interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
- Effectively persistent and persuasive, while also being appropriately flexible and resilient to respond to changing business and customer needs
- Strong computer proficiency and data analysis skills
- Strong project management skills with attention to detail
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
- Prior sales or clinical experience in medical device and/or diabetes specialty (preferred)
Pay
Annual base salary for this role is $100,000. This position is eligible for incentive compensation.
