ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- May utilize standard venipuncture techniques to collect appropriate blood specimens by adhering to correct collection and transport protocol including positive patient identification.
- Follow all lab safety procedures to minimize risk to self and others; reports gap and escalates as necessary.
- Committed to the continuous improvement of the patient experience which includes patient safety, quality of care and excellent service.
- Maintain specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures.
- Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
- Adhere to professional standards, federal, state and local requirements, and accreditation standards.
- Must be able to adhere to dress code guidelines.
- Adhere to strict attendance guidelines.
- Adhere to all HIPPA guidelines.
- Follows all Solaris Diagnostic procedures and policies.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines.
- Required to utilize LIMS tracking system and document samples and patient information properly.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 1 year of relevant experience interacting with patients.
- 1 year minimum phlebotomy experience.
- High School Diploma.
EDUCATION
- National Phlebotomy Certification with ASCP, AT or PBT. preferred.
- High School Diploma
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Strong eye hand coordination in order to accurately identify specimens by touch and sight.
- Must be able to successfully complete color coordination test.
- Ability to wear laboratory personal protective equipment (PPE) 3-6 hours out of the day.
- Frequently required to stand and/or sit for long periods of time.
ENVIRONMENT
- Frequently exposed to laboratory samples, including but not limited to blood, urine and other bodily fluids.
