About the Role
The Clinic Nurse at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James) plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost-effective care. This position is responsible for managing and providing care to patients and their families, as well as directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team.
The Clinic Nurse provides specialized outpatient care for patients with gastrointestinal cancers, including colorectal, pancreatic, gastric, liver, and esophageal malignancies. Responsibilities include collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate treatment, manage symptoms, provide patient education, conduct clinical triage, and support patients throughout the cancer care continuum. The role focuses on delivering evidence-based, patient-centered oncology care with an emphasis on safety, quality outcomes, and compassionate support.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, delegate, and evaluate nursing care for patients in alignment with the professional practice model.
- Manage and provide direct care to patients and their families.
- Direct and supervise nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate treatment plans for patients with gastrointestinal cancers.
- Manage symptoms and provide patient education.
- Conduct clinical triage and support patients throughout the cancer care continuum.
- Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered oncology care focused on safety, quality outcomes, and compassionate support.
Requirements
- Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program.
- Current Ohio nursing license or interim permit.
- Experience in a relevant care setting preferred.
