About the role

Children’s Wisconsin is affiliated with the #4 children’s hospital in the country (according to Parents magazine) and operates pediatric and primary care offices across southeast Wisconsin. Our clinics are staffed by board-certified pediatricians and behavioral health clinicians, and we emphasize population health, community involvement, and wellness programs for children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Telephone triage and responses to patient messages via MyChart
  • Processing clinical paperwork and completing prior authorizations
  • Providing in-person and telephonic patient and family education
  • Supporting clinic flow by serving as a medical assistant when needed
  • Adhering to Children’s Wisconsin and Children’s Medical Group policies, procedures, and standards
  • Maintaining HIPAA compliance and ensuring confidentiality
  • Coordinating care with other disciplines and notifying providers of patients needing immediate assistance
  • Documenting care in accordance with organizational nursing standards
  • Adapting to changing work assignments and schedules

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current Wisconsin RN license
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification (American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council)
  • 2+ years of experience in a primary care or urgent care setting, preferably with pediatric patients
  • Preferred: triage experience in a clinical pediatric setting

  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with patients, families, providers, and the health care team
  • Excellent organization, delegation, and communication skills
  • Analytical decision-making and critical thinking to assess complex patient conditions
  • Ability to synthesize multiple sources of information to support patient care
  • Cultural competence when working with diverse patient populations

Schedule

  • 32 hours per week
  • Monday: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • Tuesday: 7:00 am – 5:30 pm
  • Wednesday: 7:00 am – 5:30 pm
  • Thursday: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • Friday: Off
  • Schedule is subject to change based on clinic needs
