Responsibilities
- Demonstrates independence, competency, and accuracy in all work tasks, including those directly and indirectly related to patient care.
- Consistently and competently provides ongoing obstetric and gynecologic healthcare services in conformance with established standards of care and administrative policies and procedures.
- Maintains current knowledge concerning principles and practice of obstetric and gynecologic care through current literature, journal subscriptions, attendance at workshops and seminars, membership in professional organizations, and licensure maintenance.
- Creates and maintains accurate records, appropriate legal documents, and other reports of patient care consistent with the requirements of local, state and/or federal regulatory agencies.
- Conduct thorough health assessments, including medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
- Formulate differential diagnoses based on assessment findings.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans based on the assessment findings, medical history, and specific health needs of the patient.
- Solicit consultation or refer patients to specialists when appropriate.
- Diagnose and treat a variety of obstetric and gynecologic health concerns.
- Prescribe medications and other therapeutic interventions as needed.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding their health conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care measures.
- Emphasize health promotion and disease prevention strategies during patient encounters.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, documenting assessments, care plans, interventions, and patient progress.
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Perform other duties assigned by department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Requires an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) license.
- Prescriptive authority in the state of Louisiana is required or the application process to obtain must be submitted within 5 business days of hire.
- ACOG standards for obstetric and gynecologic knowledge.
- A minimum of three years of related adult nurse practitioner experience, preferably in a specialty clinic.
- Experience in obstetric and gynecologic care strongly preferred.
