About the Role

The Clinical Director is a senior clinical leader who oversees and manages the operations and administrative functions of their clinic. This role directly supervises, mentors, and coaches clinicians, ensuring high-quality, effective services for clients and families. The Clinical Director & Lead BCBA ensures consistent implementation and effective management of clinical policies, procedures, and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate Caravel’s key leadership skills: Positive Attitude, Integrity, Accountability, Developing & Motivating Others, Fostering Teamwork, Effective Communication, and Strategic Thinking.
  • Lead and manage the clinical team, including scheduling, coaching, development, and mentoring of clinicians (Lead BCBAs, BCBAs, and Senior Therapists).
  • Provide guidance, manage performance, and address employee relation issues proactively.
  • Develop and communicate clinical team objectives and performance standards.
  • Complete and/or approve performance evaluations for Seniors, Senior Interns, BCBAs, and Lead BCBAs.
  • Participate in the compensation review process for clinicians, including promotions and pay raises.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels based on client needs; may assign staff to clients based on experience, schedule, and capacity.
  • Oversee recruitment activities, either directly or in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Oversee all clinical training, including Behavioral Technician, Senior, and Senior Intern Training, as well as continuing education.
  • Lead clinic meetings with Lead BCBAs and monitor employee turnover and satisfaction, developing action plans as needed.
  • Oversee the intake process for new clients and serve as a liaison between clinicians and administrative staff.
  • Develop, communicate, and implement policies and procedures to ensure quality service; solicit and evaluate clinician suggestions.
  • Provide clinical perspective to administrative staff and input on policy changes.
  • Devise plans for crisis situations and demonstrate competence in skills outlined in the BACB task list.
  • Conduct supervisory and program management responsibilities for families participating in autism treatment.
  • Establish individualized home-based behavior intervention programs using evidence-based ABA strategies (DTT, NET, PRT, and verbal behavior).
  • Ensure all standards of care are followed per state and insurance guidelines.
  • Oversee client programming, develop ABA strategies, and address problem behaviors.
  • Use Caravel Autism Health’s Qualities of Effective Treatment (QET) and clinical data to adjust treatment programs.
  • Assess and determine changes in the level of care for clients, communicating adjustments to families, clinical staff, and funding sources.
  • Complete reports and documentation critical to funding reimbursement processes.
  • Proactively address client issues and solicit feedback from families to ensure satisfaction.
  • Interact with external parties (school staff, county case management, medical staff, etc.) regarding client care.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide training to family members during field visits.
  • Maintain professional boundaries, ethical standards, and HIPAA compliance.
  • Monitor clinic spending, approve major expenses, and submit clinical expense reimbursements.
  • Monitor staff overtime, case overages, productivity, and efficiency reports.
  • Market the organization externally to influence clinic growth and success; coordinate and attend community events.
  • Network with county and agency contacts to promote clinic success.

Requirements

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) with a minimum of 400 hours of hands-on training in providing ABA services to individuals with autism under the supervision of a BCBA with at least two years of experience, or actively pursuing such certification.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a human services discipline and at least 2,000 hours of training or supervised experience in behaviorally based therapy models for children with autism spectrum disorders, or
  • Legally authorized to perform psychotherapy, with a Master’s Degree in a behavioral science and at least 400 hours of training or supervised experience in behaviorally-based therapy models, plus 3,000 hours of training/supervision, with written evidence of training in evidence-based therapy methods.

Qualifications

  • At least five years’ experience as a Lead BCBA, Supervisor, or Senior Therapist implementing behaviorally based techniques with children and adolescents.
  • Proven leadership experience.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, abide by ethical guidelines, and comply with HIPAA laws.
  • Professional representation of the organization and strong work ethic.

Schedule

Expectations are for the employee to work on average 40 hours per week or more. Consistent and regular attendance is required.
