About the Role

The Clinical Director is a senior clinical leader who oversees and manages the operations and administrative functions of their clinic. This role directly supervises, mentors, and coaches clinicians while ensuring high-quality, effective services for clients and families. The Clinical Director ensures consistent implementation and effective management of clinical policies, procedures, and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate Caravel’s key leadership skills: Positive Attitude, Integrity, Accountability, Developing & Motivating Others, Fostering Teamwork, Effective Communication, and Strategic Thinking.
  • Lead and manage the clinical team, including scheduling, coaching, development, mentoring, and performance management of Lead BCBAs, BCBAs, and Senior Therapists.
  • Set and communicate clinical team objectives and performance standards.
  • Complete and/or approve performance evaluations for Seniors, Senior Interns, BCBAs, and Lead BCBAs.
  • Participate in the compensation review process for clinicians, including promotions and pay raises.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels based on client needs; may assign staff to clients or assist with recruitment activities.
  • Oversee all clinical training, including Behavioral Technician, Senior, and Senior Intern Training, and coordinate continuing education.
  • Lead clinic meetings with Lead BCBAs and address employee turnover and satisfaction through action plans.
  • Oversee the intake process for new clients and serve as a liaison between clinicians and administrative staff.
  • Develop, communicate, and implement clinical policies and procedures to ensure quality service.
  • Provide input on policy changes and ensure clinical staff are aware of and implement policies.
  • Devise plans for crisis situations and demonstrate competence in skills outlined in the BACB task list.
  • Conduct supervisory and program management responsibilities for families participating in autism treatment.
  • Establish individualized home-based behavior intervention programs using evidence-based ABA strategies (e.g., DTT, NET, PRT, verbal behavior).
  • Ensure compliance with state and insurance guidelines for standards of care.
  • Oversee client programming, develop ABA strategies, and adjust treatment programs using clinical data and Caravel Autism Health’s Qualities of Effective Treatment (QET).
  • Assess and determine changes in the level of care for clients, communicating adjustments to families, clinical staff, and funding sources.
  • Complete reports and documentation critical to funding reimbursement processes.
  • Proactively address client issues and solicit feedback from families to ensure satisfaction.
  • Interact with external parties (e.g., school staff, county case management, medical staff) regarding client care and participate in IEP meetings as requested.
  • Provide training and ABA strategies to family members during field visits.
  • Maintain professional boundaries, ethical standards, and HIPAA compliance.
  • Monitor clinic spending, approve major expenses, and submit clinical expense reimbursements.
  • Monitor staff overtime, case overages, productivity, and efficiency reports.
  • Market the organization externally through community events, networking, and regular communication with county/agency contacts.

Qualifications

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) with a minimum of 400 hours of hands-on ABA training under a BCBA with at least two years of experience in ABA programming for individuals with autism, or actively pursuing such certification.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a human services discipline and at least 2,000 hours of training or supervised experience in behaviorally based therapy models for children with autism spectrum disorders, or
  • Master’s Degree in behavioral sciences with legal authorization to perform psychotherapy, including 400 hours of training or supervised experience in behaviorally based therapy models, plus 3,000 hours of training/supervision, and written evidence of training in evidence-based therapy methods.

Experience

  • At least five years of experience as a Lead BCBA, Supervisor, or Senior Therapist implementing behaviorally based techniques with children and adolescents.
  • Proven leadership experience.

  • Client-centered focus with a commitment to meeting and exceeding expectations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, abide by ethical guidelines, and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to meet scheduling commitments.

Schedule

Expectations are for the employee to work an average of 40 hours per week or more, with consistent and regular attendance required.
