Clin Lab Scientist Staff - Full Time - Day, 8 hrs

A Stanford Health Care position performing a wide range of medical laboratory tests used to diagnose, treat, and prevent disease. Uses technical knowledge and theoretical understanding to record and validate accuracy and quality of results, ensuring conformity to specifications. Applies correct control measures and protocols for abnormal results and reports discrepancies to senior staff. Calibrates assays, maintains supply inventory, performs routine preventative maintenance, and troubleshoots instrument malfunctions.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs and completes laboratory analysis on body fluids in accordance with laboratory protocols and policies.
• Adheres to all safety, health, and regulatory requirements, as well as hospital procedures and standards.
• Applies appropriate control measures for tests with abnormal results, handles results per protocol, and notifies necessary personnel.
• Demonstrates technical proficiency in all areas of assigned responsibility and stays updated on new technical developments.
• Maintains current understanding of procedures in assigned laboratory section(s) and interprets significance of normal and abnormal results.
• Performs clinical laboratory tests of varying complexity using standard procedures to provide diagnostic, preventive, or treatment information.
• Performs maintenance, function checks, and operational checks on analytical equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
• Resolves problems related to clinical issues, equipment, or testing by researching available reference materials and escalating to management as needed.
• Records and analyzes test results using technical knowledge to validate accuracy, quality, and conformity to specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.
• One (1) year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
• California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or CLS-Limited (CLS-LTD) license.

Pay

Generally starting at $69.10 - $77.81 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on factors including internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
