Climbing Arborist

About the role

The City of Plano is seeking a skilled and motivated Arborist to join their Parks and Recreation team. The Climbing Arborist will perform skilled tree care work involving tree pruning, removal, planting, and maintenance in various city-owned properties.

Responsibilities

• Manage and protect the city’s tree canopy
• Work alongside a dedicated team committed to public service and environmental stewardship
• Perform skilled tree care tasks such as pruning, removal, planting, and maintenance
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
• Operate forestry equipment safely
• Work as part of a crew to maintain the City's urban forest
• May require overtime on weekdays and weekends due to the supervisory nature of the position

Requirements

• Advanced climbing and rigging techniques
• Safe operation of forestry equipment
• A strong commitment to public safety, environmental stewardship, and exceptional customer service

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Experience in tree care and maintenance
• Knowledge of forestry practices and safety regulations

Pay

Minimum $21.779247 hourly salary range.

Schedule

Standard hours are Monday – Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm.
