Climate Champion - Nursery & Māla Kāko'o

Duties and Responsibilities

• Supports the execution of onsite nursery management on a daily basis.
• Gathers, develops, and distributes relevant educational materials via multiple avenues, including but not limited to electronic distribution, in-person facilitation, and hard copy documents.
• Affords assistance in the ongoing and regular maintenance of the KEY Project Māla through gardening and landscaping methods.
• Organizes and attends occasional weekend workdays and workshops as assigned.
• Mets regularly with Climate Champion Supervisor to identify and prioritize relevant assignments, duties, and tasks.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices and techniques.
• Minimum one (1) year experience working with youth.
• Comfort with outdoor spaces and work environments.
• Capability to perform ongoing physical labor.
• Ability to maintain tools and equipment with confidence to perform minor repairs as needed.
• Positive attitude and ability to work well with others.

Preferred Qualifications

• General office skills.
• General cultural knowledge of Koʻolauloa moku.

Physical Requirements

• The position requires the ability to walk, move, squat, stand in a variety of positions and locations throughout the campus.
• The ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
• The ability to maintain spatial awareness of surroundings.
