Client Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary expert resource and first point of contact for clients; research, analyze, and respond to a wide range of client inquiries including coverage/eligibility, contractual issues, and government reporting compliance. Routine inquiries may be delegated.
- For new and renewal business, analyze relevant client data (e.g., census data, experience data, and contractual insurance requirements).
- Conduct market comparisons by analyzing insurance rates and renewal information and obtaining quotes.
- Partner with senior-level executives and managers to develop and recommend benefit strategies, including coverage options and exclusions.
- Negotiate premium and commission rates on behalf of clients, acting with full authority from EPIC to represent its interests.
- Provide marketing and new business development support to producers, including preparation of proposals and presentations, and participation in prospect and client meetings.
- Conduct marketing and new business development for the employee’s own book of business.

- Establish and maintain strong, long-term benefits service relationships with clients.
- Collaborate with clients, producers, and internal team members to assess plan objectives and develop comprehensive service delivery strategies.
- Analyze financial data, model program alternatives, and advise clients on recommended strategies.
- Manage the marketing process and negotiate with carriers and vendors to provide cost-effective solutions.
- Lead employee communication and open enrollment processes.
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of benefit products, industry trends, and regulatory developments.
- Advise clients on State and Federal compliance requirements, including government reporting.
- Participate in client and prospect sales presentations as part of a team.
- Personal and Organizational Development:
- Set priorities and manage workflow for self and support team to ensure goals and deadlines are met.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date proposals, workflow logs, benefits data, and documentation in agency management systems.
- Communicate effectively and professionally, demonstrating cooperation, poise, tact, and diplomacy.
- Stay informed on industry trends, product developments, legislation, and technology to continuously improve performance.
- Consistently project a professional image in both appearance and conduct.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent related experience required.
- Five (5) or more years of experience as an Account Manager with a benefits consulting or brokerage firm, or comparable experience with a medical carrier.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and presentation software.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information; position requires teamwork, discretion, and professionalism.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- California Life and Health License required.
- Professional designations such as CEBS, BGA, PHR, or CLU preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.

Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $53.84 - $56.41 per hour and standard workweeks are 37.5 hours. This range represents the employer’s good faith estimate of the compensation for this role at the time of posting.
Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, training, certifications, education, internal equity, and market data. This role may also be eligible for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
