Client Accounting Advisor
About the role
We are seeking a Client Accounting Advisor with a focus on outsourced accounting to work on-site in our Richmond office. Our Client Accounting & Advisory Services Team provides full-service accounting support, state and local tax services, consulting on accounting software, and strategic advisory services for small-to-medium sized companies across a variety of industries. You will have immediate client contact, playing a key role in building strong relationships while delivering high-quality services. The role is part-time with a minimum commitment of 25 hours per week, with the potential for the position to grow to full-time in the future.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit card accounts
- Reconcile subsidiary accounts to control accounts
- Post periodic transactions and adjusting journal entries to accounting software
- Prepare payroll and payroll tax returns
- Prepare sales and other local tax returns i.e. 1099s
- Prepare periodic financial statements and customized financial reports
- Maintain and review General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable
- Advise clients on accounting, tax, and financial matters
- Analyze financial statements for trends, opportunities, and areas of improvement
- Assist clients with QuickBooks Online set-up, training, and troubleshooting
- Utilize technology platforms in conjunction with QuickBooks Online (i.e. HubDoc, Bill, Double)
- Collaborate closely with clients and internal team members to ensure goals and deadlines are met
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of industry-related experience required, preferably in a professional services or public accounting firm
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) is required
- Degree in Accounting required
Skills
- Proactive, clear and effective communication (both written and oral)
- Strong technical accounting skills and a solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and tax principles
- Proficiency with other cloud-based accounting technology and Microsoft Office products
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to delivering quality work
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines
- Demonstrate flexibility, teamwork, and a positive attitude
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
