Clerk of Committees

Responsibilities

• Communicates with committee chair for preparation of meeting agenda and materials.
• Distributes meeting materials to committee members.
• Ensures that all meetings are properly posted in accordance with applicable state laws.
• Maintains an organized record keeping system of committee documents.
• Mails hearing notifications to residents by certified mail.
• (Applicable to current City employees only): Transcription of minutes, preparation of agenda, and other miscellaneous tasks are to be completed on clerk’s own time and not during regular work hours.

Qualifications

• Experience in clerking for local government committees preferred.
• Strong computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Solid organizational skills and ability for accuracy.
• Experience in filing, photocopying, scanning, emailing, and other basic office functions.

Working Conditions

• Interact and communicate frequently with the public, government officials, other staff members and boards, and/or third parties transacting business with the City.
• Operate standard office equipment including computers and keyboards, at efficient speed; and move throughout the municipal building which may include flights of stairs.
• Lifts/moves objects weighing up to 10-20 pounds.

Hours

• Approximately 5-10 hours a month per opening.
• Hours fluctuate with monthly meeting schedule.

Pay

• Salary for one opening: $2,880 yearly ($240/month).
• Salary for both openings: $5,760 yearly ($480/month).
