About the role
Perform moderately complex office/clerical tasks in support of the assigned campus/department under general supervision while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Tasks are diverse and similar in nature, requiring moderate use of individual analysis and judgement. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as district policies, procedures, and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform required office routines according to standard practices while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
- Review, refer, and answer routine correspondence, telephone, and electronic messages; greet the public and route requests for information.
- Establish and maintain manual and automated record filing systems for campus or department as assigned.
- Process and enter data into computer or report format; operate basic office machines including computers, fax machines, and copiers.
- Accountable for functional responsibility for an assigned section of work in the department; plan and arrange own work; refer problems that cannot be solved to supervisor.
- Communicate transactions and facilitate transitions to appropriate personnel.
- Research reports and requests for information; extract information and supporting data to assist administrator.
- Accommodate the needs of students, parents, teachers, staff, and/or the general public to assist administration in providing information and services.
- Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job.
- Participate in professional development activities as required by the district.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties; support district/department goals.
- Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
- Three (3) years of general clerical/secretarial experience OR eighteen (18) semester hours from an accredited college/university may be substituted for each year of experience.
- Proficient skills in keyboarding, word processing, file maintenance, personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases, electronic mail, and internet.
- Ability to communicate, listen, read, write, and comprehend the English language sufficiently for daily communication.
- Possess required skills and knowledge as assessed by the Ysleta ISD Paraprofessional Test.

- Repetitive hand/wrist motions and prolonged use of a computer.
- Prolonged sitting, moderate standing, walking, bending, reaching.
