About the role

The gift shops are located at Parnassus, Mission Bay, and Mount Zion hospitals. One shop specializes in products and services for cancer patients. In a relatively fast-paced, multi-tasked environment, the gift shop associate conducts retail sales, maintains the general upkeep, security, and safety awareness in the shop environment. The incumbent provides excellent customer care by assisting with general inquiries and support while working with the gift shop team to achieve operational objectives. This role maintains the objectives of the medical center and department and applies the mission of UCSF Health to the customer experience and merchandising of products.

Responsibilities

• Conduct retail sales in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain general upkeep, security, and safety awareness in the shop.
• Provide excellent customer service, assisting with inquiries in person and over the phone.
• Work collaboratively with the gift shop team to meet operational objectives.
• Apply UCSF Health’s mission to enhance customer experience and product merchandising.

Requirements

• Two years of retail sales experience in a fast-paced environment.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Flexibility to work across all UCSF Gift Shops (Parnassus, Mission Bay, and Mount Zion) with varied hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Cash handling experience using POS systems, credit card terminals, and Apple Pay.
• Customer service experience with a positive attitude and friendly demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a healthcare retail environment.
• Proficiency in computer systems, including word processing, spreadsheets, creating signage, social media marketing, and website management.
