Responsibilities
- Shipping System Utilization and Documentation
- Maintain clean and orderly shipping area
- Prepare patient packages for shipping
- Inspect each package for correct items, missing items, broken items, and record any problems with the packaging
- Affirm the shipping information is accurate, double checked, and printed correctly on shipping labels
- Complete shipment and delivery documentation in the pharmacy’s Patient Management Platform
- Ensure all prescriptions are packaged appropriately according to stability guidelines and shipped through the correct vendor and method
- Reconcile open fulfillment prior to end of day and arrival of shipping courier
- Inventory and System Management: Order supplies for the pharmacy department as needed
- Ensure all merchandise, supplies and shipping containers are restocked
- Patient intake and processing
- Prescription entry and adjudication
- Cash Management
- Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debit
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers
- Keep accurate records of monetary exchanges, authorization forms, and transaction reconciliations
- Perform daily and weekly cash and/or payment reconciliation
- Weekly payment deposit and ad hoc deposits, if necessary
- Customer Service
- Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas
- Uphold pharmacy standards pertaining to customer service
- Assist customers by answering questions, locating items, or referring them to the pharmacist for clinical information
- Clerical and Administrative Duties
- Respond to third party requests, i.e., audits/re-credentialing and provide necessary information/documentation
- Completes all necessary follow up actions
- Identify areas for process/quality improvement and works with the pharmacy supervisor to implement improvement measures
- Sort out incoming faxes and categorize as appropriate
Qualifications
- High school graduation or equivalent
- At least 1 year of pharmacy experience
- Knowledge of basic computer functions
- Ability to work in a manual or automated pharmacy setting
- Ability to safely operate power material handling equipment as necessary
- Previous experience in a specialty pharmacy, warehouse, retail or shipping/receiving environment is preferred
