Job Summary

The Clerical Substitute position is an on-call position to provide clerical coverage and/or support District-Wide as needed. Work Hours: Monday through Friday, hours vary On call as needed.

Job Description / Essential Elements

  • Print EL RANCHO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT CLERK TYPIST I DEFINITION
  • Under supervision, perform a wide variety of general clerical work including typing a wide variety of materials;
  • Perform a group of repetitive or closely related duties according to established procedures;
  • Perform a variety of clerical work including typing, proofreading, filing, checking and recording information on records;
  • Answer the telephone and wait on students or the general public, giving information as required;
  • Prepare student registration documents;
  • Type letters, memorandums, book lists, bulletins, or other material from oral direction, rough draft, copy, or notes;
  • Prepare purchase orders;
  • Prepare ditto masters and mimeograph stencils;
  • Operate adding machines, duplicating machines, and other office appliances;
  • Compose routine letters;
  • Maintain employee attendance records;
  • Type suspension letters and forms;
  • Post scores and grades to student records;
  • Prepare transcripts of student records;
  • Readmit students;
  • Post absences to apportionment card;
  • Make telephone verification of absences;
  • Type master absence lists;
  • Sort and file documents and records according to predetermined classifications, maintaining alphabetical, index, and cross reference files;
  • Perform arithmetical calculations;
  • Mails out letters, forms and applications;
  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail;
  • Act as a receptionist;
  • Absorb and assist in making out forms;
  • Prepare simple statistical reports;
  • Requisition supplies;
  • May operate computer terminal.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of: Basic elements of good English usage, spelling and arithmetic.
  • Ability to: Type at a speed of 35 words per minute from clear copy; perform routine clerical work, including ability to spell correctly, use good English, and to make simple arithmetical calculations; learn to operate standard office appliances and to learn office rules, methods, and policies; follow oral and written directions; get along with students, teachers, co-workers, and the public.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Minimum typing speed: 35 wpm (Upload typing certificate to application if you have one)
  • Failure to provide the following required documents will result in applicant being screened out: Driver's License Copy (Drivers License Copy), Letter(s) of Recommendation (Two (2) letters signed and dated within one year), Resume, Typing Certificate
