Position Summary
This is a temporary or on-call position that provides clerical support. Responsibilities may include secretarial, receptionist, bookkeeping, information processing, or related clerical tasks.
Responsibilities
- Triage of specimens in the receiving-order entry unit to ensure accurate data entry, log-in, and storage of specimen to the lab
- Log specimens to the lab and prepare animal tissue, feed, and blood samples for analysis
- Address client questions and use the lab LIMS system to track specimen in the lab
- Process/testing specimens from animals and the environment to detect the presence of inorganic and organic chemicals
- Prepare media/reagents for use by several laboratory sections
- Walk, lift, push, pull, reach, climb, and work with unfixed animal tissues
Requirements
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Computer fluency to use the lab LIMS system
- Attention to detail and adherence to protocols
- Exposure to materials and chemicals
- Close teamwork with others in the laboratory
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a laboratory setting preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Benefits

- Work hours between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday
Pay

Schedule
- On-campus temps can work six (6) months then terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call position
- Off-campus temps can continuously work nine (9) month appointment with a one (1) week break in between
- On-call allowed to work up to 40 hours/week for three (3) months then must be moved down to 19 hours/week and cannot work more than 520 hours in any six (6) month period
